Some business owners and Executives have no trust in others for bookkeeping and accounting and other matters of finance. Still other Owners and Executives never want to hear what is transpiring on documentations, financial laws, policies and the like. Both of these types of CEO are extreme and not a good model to emulate.
An owner/executive should want the freedom to make time to develop new strategies, services, products, and operational efficiency. Also, an owner needs the ability to analyze his or her Profit-Loss, and remaining Chart Of Account reports to know how to plan to grow their business.
In other words, to delegate tasks or automate is good if it assist the owner(s) in accomplishing the aforementioned goals. If the 'delegating' is merely to allow the owner(s) leisure time and less work because 'they are the boss', then the owner(s) are going to delegate right into bankruptcy!
Thomas Edison once observed, "...some people don't recognize opportunity when it knocks because it is often dressed in coveralls and looks like work!" The aforementioned Owner type would fit this description.
On the other extreme, an owner/executive who absolutely is obsessed with doing everything themselves, will not grow a business! In today's business climate where so many things have an effect on one's business success, it is virtually impossible for a single person to keep up with: Technology, Tax Laws, License Laws, Products and Service upgrades, Marketing and Selling, recruiting and training, and so on.
Even a 1 person business like a Hair Stylist operating out of their Garage or basement, eventually must pay or contract out to someone to do some of the things his or her business requires (i.e. Taxes, accounting, soliciting new customers, cleaning up, etc.). There are only 24 hours to a day, and all must sleep sometime! If such an Entrepreneur is happy with their current income, then, they have no reason to be at this web page looking for ideas to improve on business cause one must delegate and/or automate where feasible!
Returning to our context, one should seek any assistance that will facilitate legitimate accounting and bookkeeping operations. As a business owner, you want to spend as much time as you can making money, not writing about it! As a business owner, there is no avoiding of keeping records and bookkeeping.
